Plat Map Series
Leland Iron Works Residency
I spent the month of October 2017 at Leland Iron Works which is located just east of Oregon City, it is the home and studio of sculptor Lee Kelly and his family.
My studio was located in the "Machine Shed" surrounded by trees mostly planted by Lee and his wife Bonnie many years ago. It was a serene and beautiful place to work for the month.
I started a new series I'm calling the Plat Map Series. This work contemplates the way that we divide up land and place boundary lines onto the landscape. It also looks at how people use the land. The use of douglas fir needles from fallen branches examines my interest in the materials and textures that fill the terrain of the landscape.
